Great Southern Rail promotes train holidays with ad from shut Clemenger Adelaide

Great Southern Rail is promoting its The Ghan and The Indian Pacific train holidays with an ad capturing the geography of the trips and what they offer to tourists.

Created by ClemengerBBDO Adelaide, which was recently rolled into KWP, and directed by Melbourne-based director Tim White, the ad features wide, dramatic shots of Australian landscapes juxtaposed with fast, moving shots of the trains.

White said: “I was really interested in weaving a simple narrative throughout the commercial while maintaining the dynamic energy of their last ad, which I was a great fan of.

“Shooting in outback Australia is always difficult as footage looks best in morning or evening light. We had to be up before sunrise to shoot each morning and travel great distances to capture the evening light at the next location.”

It is running in cinemas and across TV.
