WPP’s media arm GroupM has bolstered its investment division by promoting Venessa Hunt and Liesa Newland.

Hunt has been promoted to digital strategy and investment officer while Newland has been promoted to head of trading intelligence.

Prior to her promotion Hunt was GroupM’s head of digital investment and partnerships for almost two years. She joined GroupM in 2016 as its head of mobile.

Before joining GroupM, Hunt was Yahoo7’s mobile strategy and advertising director.

Meanwhile, Newland has been promoted from her previous role as GroupM’s intelligence and data director.

Nicola Lewis, GroupM Australia’s chief investment officer, said in a statement: “I am thrilled to recognise two team members of the calibre of Venessa and Liesa and strengthen our competitive advantage in investment strategy.

“We have the best talent in market within GroupM and being able to reward our people with promotions and new challenges that match their passions and expertise means we continue to inspire excellence in everything we do, and deliver the best outcomes to our clients.”

Both Hunt and Newland will join GroupM’s leadership team and report into Lewis.

In addition, Finecast and Xaxis’ managing directors, Brett Poole and Imran Masood, have joined the GroupM leadership team.

Prior to the two promotions, GroupM’s chief digital officer John Miskelly took on a new role as Group M’s investment director across APAC.

Mark Lollback, CEO at GroupM Australia, said: “John is one of the greatest digital minds in the industry and we’ve been honoured to have him with us in GroupM Australia for the last 10 years. While we’re sad to lose him and his dry sense of humour from our offices we’re thrilled to see him step up into a regional role within the group and even happier he will continue to be involved with the Australia and New Zealand business.

“We wish him the best in his new and exciting role in APAC.”
