Gruen Transfer returns in August and announce Gruen Planet

Wil Anderson and The Gruen Transfer will return to ABC1 on Wednesday 3 August at 9pm.

In other big news, the team have announced new show The Gruen Planet which will look at the news of the week “through prism of spin, branding and image control,” but are otherwise keeping tight lipped.

The Gruen Transfer, which puts the ad world under the microscope, Anderson will again team with CEO of Y&R Brands Russel Howcroft and Leo Burnett’s CEO Todd Sampson.

Advertising world experts Dan Gregory, Dee Madigan, Jeremy Nicholas, Bridget Taylor, jane Caro, Rowan Dean and Carolyn Miller will be part of the rotating panel of critics.

The Gruen Transfer averaged 1.4 million viewers a week in 2010 and won the 2010 AFI for Best Light Entertainment program.

In a statement, the show says the team are ready to get stuck into everything they’ve missed this year; “crazy mining ads, big tobacco campaigns, gambling messages invading every sport program on TV, the social media monster of Vodafail, NAB pretending it has no friends.”

The show that brought you the worst ad of all time will this year search for the worst product of all time.

The Gruen Transfer is a  Zapruder’s other films co-production with ABC-TV.
