Guess whose mums Hughesy, Moonface and Molly are playing?
Whirlpool has drafted in some of Australia’s best loved TV faces for its return to the TV screens, along with its old “Guess whose mum’s got a whirlpool” slogan.
Dave Hughes, Bert Newton and Molly Meldrum play their own mums in the ads which broke last night.
The ads come after an absence of 15 years from TV for the brand.
Grant Rutherford, ECD at DDB, said: “Developing the Whirlpool brand campaign onto the screen was a fantastic creative opportunity.”

Is Bert Newton *trying* to look like a serial killer?

Cross-dressers of Australia are clapping loudly !

The ads are nauseating enough. But anyone who saw Bert and Molly hamming it up on A Current Affair would have violently vomited. Goodness I hope Whirlpool paid a whole stack of cash for that…

Umm watch them three times each and they could be classified mildly humerous but after watching them on endless rotation wait for the burn out, attempt humour at your peril!

Hahaha! These are hilarious! They make me want to go out and buy some whitegoods – fridge anyone? Newsflash naysayers – these are meant to be funny. If they wanted the guys to look good in drag they would have cast some prettier men in the first place. Well done DDB!

Great to see a brand taking the humour high road…men in frocks? How alarmingly original… better be careful that other creative hot shop, The Footy Show may sue for plagiarism
What next? Pies in the face?

Haven’t the Newton and Hughes ones already been screening for a while now?

Hi anon,
They started screening at the weekend. Not sure if that counts as quite a while or not.
