Guzman y Gomez CMO Anna Jones departs
Emerging fast food chain Guzman y Gomez has begun searching for a new chief marketing officer after the departure of Anna Jones.
The former Red Rooster marketer, who has been with the Mexican fast food chain for 15 months, told Mumbrella the decision to move on came after a divergence in opinion about the direction of the brand.
Jones launched the #fixfastfood movement at Guzman y Gomez, which pledged to focus the brand in developing a sustainable and nutritious menu that also focused on animal welfare.
“I believe that everyone has a responsibility to use their position to drive positive change and when I fell into the fast food industry five years ago, I couldn’t imagine an industry that needed a greater shift in direction,” Jones said.
Jones oversaw the launch of the Mexican fast food chain’s app and lifted its customer experience scores.
She told Mumbrella that she was ready for a change beyond the fast food industry and that her move had been prompted because the brand did not align with some of her ideas.
“I think the fast food industry is a really tough industry to change and when I left Red Rooster I didn’t want to be in fast food again,” Jones said.
Guzman y Gomez CEO, Mark Hawthorne, said the company had launched a search for a new CMO.
“We’d like to thank Anna for her contributions to Guzman y Gomez over the past 15 months and wish her the best,” Hawthorne said.
“We are committed to creating positive change in Australia’s fast food industry and will be continuing to build momentum with our #fixfastfood movement. An announcement regarding our new CMO will be made shortly.”
