Hamish & Andy tops August podcast ranker, Life Uncut rejoins top 10

LiSTNR’s (SCA) Hamish & Andy has reinforced its lead on the Triton Digital Podcast Ranker for August 2022, as the top 10 podcasts have remained fairly stable, bar a few small shifts.

The podcast, which has held onto the top spot since the show’s 2022 relaunch in March, brought in 997,000 monthly listeners across five new episodes, followed by Casefile True Crime from Audioboom, with 744,393 listeners across two new episodes.

In third place, ARN/ iHeartMedia’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show catchup podcast bumped up two spots with a monthly listenership of 586,364 across 115 episodes and Schwartz Media’s 7am held onto the fourth spot with 498,140 listeners across 28 new episodes.

ARN/ iHeartMedia’s Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne made a strong return to the top 10, up eight spots to fifth place on 467,351 across 14 episodes.

News Corp Australia’s The Teacher’s Trial dropped down three spots to sixth place with 466,014 monthly listeners over six episodes and ARN/iHeartMedia’s Stuff You Should Know also stepped down one place into seventh, with 348,519 listeners across 18 episodes.

ARN/ iHeartMedia’s The Imperfects was down two spots to ninth, with 275,000 monthly listeners over four episodes and Wondery’s Morbid was down one place into 10th position with 269,280 monthly listeners over 14 episodes.

In total, 22 of the top 100 podcasts were listed as news podcasts, with 15 falling under the true crime genre and 12 were categorised under the sports genre.

Total podcast downloads were up 800,000 compared to the month of July, with August hitting the second highest number of total downloads of 2022, behind May.

ARN/iHeartMedia was again the top publisher with 3,866,723  monthly listeners and 19,336,723 monthly downloads, followed by LiSTNR/SCA which came in the second spot with 3,359,130 listeners and 10,644,909 downloads.
