‘He is someone that knows about failure’: Kyle Sandilands slams Steve Price after The Project rant

Steve Price has reignited his feud with Kyle Sandilands, throwing a number of insults at the radio host after Kyle and Jackie O’s breakfast show launched on Melbourne radio on Monday with some crude content.

“Kyle, last time I mentioned you on this program I called you a grubby buffoon,” Price said. “That was a compliment in hindsight. That garbage you put to air this morning, sexualised rubbish, toxic, nobody should listen to it and you will be a massive failure in Melbourne.”

Price last took aim at Sandilands and his chances in Melbourne radio last November when the historic radio deal was announced. On that occasion, Price called the presenter “a grubby buffoon”, adding “I don’t think grubby buffoons work in Melbourne”.

While appearing on The Project on Monday night, Price claimed that Sandilands sent him a “threatening message” after that November broadcast, daring him to do it again.

“I do note that you didn’t have the guts to sit down and do an interview with me to talk about your new radio show, perhaps because you’ve got the intellect of a cumquat,” he said.

This was all obviously music to Sandilands’ ears, who addressed Price’s spray this morning on his breakfast show, calling The Project “a piece of shit”.

“No one watches it, and they don’t like us,” he declared, sharing a private note that Price sent to Sandilands’ manager last month which he claimed started: “I’m very aware Kyle and I have had some interesting whacks at each other over the years but as we know, it’s all part of the game.”

“See, I’m right,” Sandilands said of Price’s rant. “It is feigned outrage. Does he mean what he says or is he just full of shit?”

Addressing Price’s predictions of impending failure in the Melbourne market, Sandilands continued: “He is someone that knows about failure. I think the last breakfast show he did in Melbourne pulled a 2.6.

“You meet more people at the servo filling up fuel.”
