Herald-Sun Home magazine to relaunch on 20th anniversary

Herald-Sun HomeThe Herald-Sun’s home magazine is launching a new iPad app and a new design on its 20th anniversary, Saturday February 8.

The announcement:

A weekly full-colour magazine in Saturday’s Herald Sun, home offers a variety of stories including decorator looks, design ideas, garden makeovers, renovations, easy weekend projects, land releases, the latest display-home designs and much more.

Editor of the magazine Natasha Perera said: “Every week, almost 400,000 Victorians read home. It’s been such a pleasure to see the magazine evolve. In 1994, our first issue showed a family standing inside the frame of their brand new home-to-be and, to me, that was what home magazine was about: building the dream.

“Twenty years later, we’re still about building the dream but we now take readers on the journey too. From buying a block of land, building your home, decorating, renovating, landscaping – it’s now about building your dream and living it too.

“Today home magazine is about a marriage of new homes and land, cleverly balanced with a strong lifestyle focus.

“In the past 20 years, we have continued to evolve with our readers and to mark this anniversary, I’m pleased that we’re not only redesigning the magazine but we’re also expanding our digital presence with the launch of an iPad app.”

The redesign will see the magazine maintain elements readers have grown to love while adding new aspects to give the popular title a more contemporary look.

The launch issue of the app will be free, with subsequent issues downloadable for 99c for one month and $1.99 for three months. It will be available via the Newsstand.

Commercial manager Jeynelle Leffanue said of the app: “Advertisers have long asked us for additional ways they can engage our readers beyond the magazine. The app gives us the opportunity to speak to our readers in a much more immersive, animated, interactive way.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, home magazine will also be running a special consumer giveaway – there’s a chance to win a share of more than $20,000 in prizes for the home.
