Honest Tourism Australia ad
Tourism Australia launched its multi-million-dollar Matesong campaign in the UK over the holiday period, at the same time that Australia’s devastating – and ongoing – bushfire crisis was ravaging the east coast.
And now, in response, The Chaser has launched what it says is a more honest ad, reflecting what our country really has to offer – complete with Sydney’s tax-free smoke, dying koalas, the bleached reef, breakfast TV nonsense and gas masks.
Dr Mumbo will leave the jokes about this unmitigated disaster to The Chaser, and instead of ending on a gag, will make it easy for you to help out if you can.

this is funny, better and far more clever than the original, a much nicer voice and probably will be seen by more people once it goes viral with no media spend. The problem with that is that is equally thoughtless – tourism will be greatly impacted by the fires (i know of several families who have cancelled their holidays to come home and see family so assume it will be extensive) & many of the people that have lost their homes and business rely on tourism to make a living. The fact that this will go very viral is likely to further dampen tourism and rub salt in the wounds of many impacted by the fires. I get it’s a joke & usually have no issue with this kind of stuff. I guess the issue is that this one is good and will be seen and shared and publicised in articles

I was waiting for this.
Surprised it took them so long.
Not very clever or helpful right now.
Yawn.
Why not focus on putting efforts into making an ad that influences Australia’s efforts on
Climate change? Oh that’s right – you don’t have ideas you can just parody them.

Agree. Tourism is a victim of climate change. This is unhelpful.
