Hospitality group Solotel appoint Dan Lacaze as group marketing director

Sydney hospitality and entertainment group Solotel has appointed former BMF staffer Dan Lacaze as the company’s first group marketing director.

Solotel, Australia’s most diverse hospitality and entertainment group, have appointed Dan Lacaze as Group Marketing Director.

Lacaze will be responsible for building digital, customer and marketing capability across the portfolio of 30 brands.

Lacaze was previously Client Services Director at BMF, leading a department of 28 people across clients including ALDI, Sportsbet, the A-League, and Dulux. In his career Lacaze has led work that has been awarded at all major local and international shows, including ‘Video Stamp’ for Australia Post, ‘You’ve Gotta Have a Team’ for the A-League, ‘Share a Coke’ activations for Coca-Cola and the latest ‘Roid in Android’ campaign for Sportsbet featuring Ben Johnson, which received unprecedented media attention around the world.

Says Lacaze, “I’m really excited with this new opportunity as I believe Solotel are fundamentally in the entertainment business. When I met owners Matt Moran and Bruce Solomon, I was struck by their warmth, passion, and entrepreneurialism. I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity to steward their portfolio of wonderfully iconic brands.”

Solotel venues include Matt Moran’s signature Aria and Chiswick restaurants. The group also includes North Bondi Fish, Chophouse, Opera Bar, Riverbar, The Marlborough Hotel, Paddo Inn Bar & Grill, The Clock, GOROS, The Sheaf, The Bank; and recently acquired Clovelly Hotel.

This year Solotel will launch:

  • A free-standing, three story entertainment icon in Barangaroo which will house a new bar, MattMoran restaurant and rooftop cocktail lounge
  • A two story pub and café in a heritage listed Queenslander in South Bank, Brisbane
  • An evolution in the Events by Aria business currently managing events at the Sydney Opera House, and the Art Gallery of NSW. The new Events business model will offer unrivalled event choices from the Solotel portfolio of brands, effortlessly delivered by a team of specialist Event creatives, designers and producers.

Lacaze begins immediately as a member of the Executive leadership team.
