HWT appoints new Publisher, Major Events & Partnerships

The Herald & Weekly Times’ Managing Director, Peter Blunden, today announced the creation of the new position of Publisher, Major Events & Partnerships.

The position will be filled by former Herald Sun Head of Sport Ondrej Foltin and is effective immediately.

In his new role, Mr Foltin will be responsible for planning editorial coverage of Victoria’s major events across HWT publications – including the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun, mX, The Weekly Times and associated digital platforms.

He will work closely with HWT’s advertising, marketing and circulation departments to provide the best possible content for readers.

HWT has strategic relationships with more than 50 major events and organisations in Victoria, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Victoria Racing Club, Cricket Victoria, several AFL clubs, the Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fashion Festival, Zoos Victoria, Museums Australia, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Mr Blunden welcomed Mr Foltin to the role: “Our company prides itself on strong community engagement and this is enhanced by a diverse range of important strategic partnerships.

”I am pleased someone of Ondrej’s experience and knowledge of our market can help enhance these partnerships and generate even better coverage of major Victorian events.”

Editor in Chief Phil Gardner said the company would benefit from Mr Foltin’s extensive editorial and management experience.

“Ondrej will be the key contact and editorial liaison for HWT’s partners and internal stakeholders, and will ensure innovative, creative and practical solutions are delivered,” Mr Gardner said.

“He will ensure HWT continues to produce great value content, while meeting our high editorial standards and expectations.”

He will work with Kylie Pritchard (HWT manager – major events & partnerships), Vicki Giosis (HWT commercial manager – major events & partnerships), and Elisa Dillon (HWT assistant – major events & partnerships).

Mr Foltin’s former role as Head of Sport was filled by Matthew Kitchin last month.
