Mahr has more than ten years experience working in AI and cognitive strategy and his seminar will also tackle the problematic topic of dark data, which is information collected by marketers but not utilised.
Alex will also be joined by IBM’s Antonia Edmunds, who has more than 14 years’ experience in digital marketing and customer engagement.
IBM Watson, unlike traditional computer systems, mirrors the human brain by using reasoning and is capable of answering questions posed by users.
It can observe problems, draw on past knowledge, evaluate potential solutions and then make the best decision.
More usefully for marketers, it can understand and analyses data not already organised in databases and tables, such as newspaper articles, literature, blogs and tweets.
It does this by analysing sentence structure rather than just searching for keywords.
It’s currently used by a diverse range of professionals from doctors to wealth managers and even chefs.
