Ikea offering chance to sleepover in Tempe store as promotion for bed and bath products
Ikea is offering customers the chance of staying overnight in its Tempe store in Sydney’s inner west.
The one-night only offer, in collaboration with Airbnb, aims to promote the store’s bedroom and bathroom fittings with the sleepover guests set to keep the bed linen from their stay as a “parting gift”. It has been created by Ikea’s agency partners The Monkeys, Mango and Espresso Communications.
Groups of up to four people will have the choice of three accommodation settings: Rustic Charm, Inner City Living and Modern Elegance.
Ikea Australia marketing manager Kristin Bengtsson said: “At Ikea we like to do things a little differently. This year we’re turning the spotlight on our bedrooms and bathrooms, where we begin and end every day, so to celebrate the launch of our new year and the 2015 catalogue, we’re truly excited to be collaborating with Airbnb and our agency partners, The Monkeys and Mango, to create this experience.”
The evening will be hosted by Claire Ferguson, who regularly rents out her home to travellers using Airbnb.
Guests are promised to be woken up with “an unexpected wake-up call the next morning to celebrate the arrival of spring”.
To win the overnight experience, customers need to describe in 25 words or less why you should win, something about their family and which town or city they live in.
Yawn. Been done before….
