In the name of media sales fun
One of the joys of any media sales team is enforced Friday fun.
It’s not enough merely to sell ads.
Fun. Will. Be. Had.
Which takes Dr Mumbo to this video posted by Sydney talkback station 2GB on Friday afternoon.
Presenter Ray Hadley – currently experiencing some PR challenges relating to his unique interpersonal style – has been playing, some would say relentlessly, Jake Owen’s Down To The Honkytonk.
And the staff had better love the song as much as he does.
For some curious reason, when Dr Mumbo watches the video (which appears to have been filmed using a low resolution potato) he finds himself thinking of sitcom The Office.
At one end of the spectrum, we find the zany funsters throwing themselves into it.
In the middle, are most of the team, awkwardly swaying slightly in their seats and waiting for the camera to pan away from them.
And at the far end of the spectrum are the curmudgeons who are just getting on with the job.
In just 31 seconds, there’s a lot to see.
Perhaps most notably though is just how many empty desks there are. Dr Mumbo assumes they were all out on the road selling live reads to aged care provider.
Good lord!
I got to 15secs and had to avert my eyes!

Well I’m convinced. Not a person there wouldn’t rather be down at the honky tonk or indeed anywhere else than where they are.
