Initiative Sydney appoints Mike Kay as head of client advice and business development
Initiative Sydney has appointed Mike Kay as head of client advice and business development.
Kay is currently the managing director of IPG Mediabrands’ specialist retail division Rufus. Previously, Kay spent over six years at UM Australia, starting out as a communication manager, and eventually leaving as head of client advice and management.
In his new position, Kay will be joining Initiative Australia’s senior leadership team.
Kay’s appointment follows a string of new business wins for Initiative, including Carnival Australia, KPMG, ARN and Fujitsu.
Initiative Australia CEO, Melissa Fein, said in a statement: “Our Sydney clients and media-owner partners will benefit greatly from Mike’s experience and leadership capabilities. He is a very talented business leader who will contribute not only to our clients’ progress but also to our overall business.”
Kay said of his appointment: “I’m incredibly excited to be taking on this new opportunity. Initiative Sydney has strong momentum and we have great talent in our team. We have a clear point of differentiation with our Cultural Branding proposition and I’m looking forward to working closely with our clients and media partners to create trailblazing work together.”
Mike is a good guy, but this sounds like a job they’ve made redundant and reshaped quite a lot lately. Hope it isn’t a poisoned chalice for his sake.
