Instagram introduces in-app scheduling tool for Reels and Posts

Instagram has rolled out an in-app scheduling tool that allows creators and businesses to schedule Reels, Photo and Carousel posts without using third-party software.

The company announced on Instagram that creators and businesses can now access the scheduling tool via “advanced settings” when posting, and plan the content up to 75 days in advance.

Prior to this day, the only way for businesses to schedule posts and stories without third-party apps such as Hootsuite is via Meta Business Suite.

After a business links its Instagram account to its Facebook page, it can schedule posts and stories via the planner across both platforms. However, this is not applicable to Reels.

The company also announced that it’s testing the ‘Achievements’ function, where creators can unlock achievements by collaborating with other creators, making interactive reels or using trending audio and effects.

Creators can also participate in maintaining the “creative streak”, by making more than one Reel in a week. The name is somewhat reminiscent of Snapchat Streaks, which begins when users send or receive Snaps from a person at least once for 3 consecutive days.

Last month, Instagram launched new ad surfaces and tools for brands, introducing features including music optimisation for reels, ads in explore and profile feed, AI multi-advertiser tool and AR ads.
