Interbrand hunts for new Melbourne MD as Paul Hoskins departs for Etsy

Interbrand has started the search for a new Melbourne managing director after Paul Hoskins announced he will be taking up the new role of country manager Australia for Etsy.

Hoskins joined Interbrand in 2014 as director of strategy and transformation before being appointed as managing director in 2015.

A spokesperson for Interbrand said the agency was now recruiting for a replacement for Hoskins, who she said had “been a real success story” for the business in Melbourne. A new Melbourne MD is expected to be announced in coming weeks, the spokesperson said.

Prior to his role with Interbrand, Hoskins worked with Symantec, ANZ and Medibank.

Etsy was founded as a peer-to-peer sales platform originally specialising in handmade and vintage items and continues to operate an an outlet for artists and small manufacturers.

Helen Souness, managing director Australia and Asia for Etsy said she was confident Hoskins would help the business grow.

“The Australian team has made great progress growing this market and the Etsy brand in recent years and I am confident that we will maintain this momentum under Paul’s leadership,” Souness said.

Hoskins said he aimed to continue to build the platform as a way to connect sellers with new markets.

“I hope to encourage more of these creative entrepreneurs to join the Etsy community in Australia, and get more Australian made products on the platform. More local products, will mean more local shoppers, and therefore more opportunities for creative entrepreneurs across the country. As the platform, and the Etsy Economy grows, everyone benefits.”
