IPG’s Matt Scotton jumps to GroupM for new role

GroupM’s soon-to-launch merged agency EssenceMediacom has a new chief product and marketing officer for Australia and New Zealand.

Matt Scotton has joined EssenceMediacom, which goes live locally on 31 January, from IPG Mediabrands where he was most recently regional chief strategy officer for Initiative in the Asia Pacific region. He has 20 years’ industry experience spanning media, consulting and creative agency roles.

In his new role he will join the agency’s executive committee and will lead the agency’s growth agenda and overarching product proposition nationally.

Bringing together the overall product offering under Scotton is a clear decision, aimed to help realise the promise of the EssenceMediacom merger, which sees the business bring together the digital, data and technology capability of Essence, with the strategic network capability of Mediacom.

Globally EssenceMediacom will boast 10,000 employees across 125 offices, with more than 500 staff locally.
