Jarrod Martin to lead Marketing Sciences Australia

Jarrod Martin is to lead Marketing Sciences Australia

The announcement:

Jarrod Martin has been appointed managing director of Marketing Sciences Australia, the data and analytics division of IPG Mediabrands Australia. He has 15 years experience in analytics and data-driven marketing and since 2007 he has run the independent analytics business DIG Consulting.

Henry Tajer, executive chairman of IPG Mediabrands, said Martin is a key appointment for the group and he will join the company’s board of directors. “Analytics is at the heart of everything we do and a substantial part of our competitive edge in the market comes from Marketing Sciences’ intelligence,” said Tajer. “Marketing Sciences Australia is one of the newer divisions of IPG Mediabrands, but the group’s impact on the insights and work we produce for clients has been one of our big successes in the past 12 months.”

Martin has led major data-intensive initiatives for clients including Telstra, Foxtel, Nestle, Dell, Amex, ING, NAB , CUB, AFL, AMP and Vodafone in areas including ROI modeling, financial modeling, customer analyses, campaign planning and database consulting.

Prior to his career at DIG Consulting, Martin had extensive analytics experience on the agency side with DDB, George Pattersons/Y&R and Ogilvy One.

Martin’s main focuses in the new role would be to accelerate Marketing Sciences Australia’s collaboration with IPG Mediabrands businesses and to take the group into the wider analytics market as a competitive force in winning its own independent clients.

“I was attracted to IPG Mediabrands and Marketing Sciences Australia because of the clearly established competencies in the group,” said Martin. “Every one of the divisions has a clear identity and purpose, but the degree of collaboration between them is enviable. I am looking forward to contributing in my new role.”

Marketing Sciences Australia has a staff of 20 people. Martin starts in his new position on May 20 and replaces former managing director Chris Carr who left the business at the end of 2012.
