Jason Laird departs Telstra as executive director of comms to take on NAB corporate affairs role

Telstra’s executive director of communications, Jason Laird, is departing the telecommunications company for a new role at National Australia Bank.

In his new role at NAB, Laird will be leading the corporate affairs team as the executive general manager of corporate affairs.

Laird joined Telstra in 2012

Laird joined Telstra more than six years ago from his previous role as the executive director of communications at General Motors in the US.

Throughout his career Laird has also spent time at Holden and was the press secretary to the Premier of Victoria in 1996.

In a statement to Mumbrella, Laird said: “It’s a tremendous opportunity to join the National Australia Bank during a critical period.

“The industry is being clearly told by customers, the broader community and government that they expect better. It is also crucial that employees feel proud of where they work.”

Telstra is currently in the process of reviewing its consumer PR agency.
