Jeremy Drake appointed editor at Grin Creative’s get lost magazine
Grin Creative has announced that Carrie Hutchinson will step out of her role as editor of Get Lost travel magazine, with Jeremy Drake to take over the reins.
Hutchison served as editor for the past two and a half years, and will remain with Grin Creative to work on other projects.
Drake is writer and photographer who started his career at News Corp in Sydney as a cadet. In recent years he has worked as a freelancer for Get Lost, but also spent almost ten years working in content agencies in Australia and across Europe.
Grin Creative founder and Get Lost publisher Justin Jamieson said of Hutchinson.
“Carrie’s reputation is second to none. She has navigated the publication through unprecedented times and we are thankful for her hard work over the years,” he said.
“While we’ll miss her on the Get Lost side of things, we’re very lucky to have her helping us on other projects.”
Drake will begin his first week as editor on a tall ship sailing along the south coast of Tasmania.
On Drake joining the publication, Jamieson added: “We’re very excited to have Jez taking over the reins of get lost. He brings a sense of enthusiasm and a new dynamic to the brand and how we see it evolving.”
Drake said he sees immense opportunity as he takes over as editor, with the travel industry beginning to recover after a tough 2020.
“Get Lost prides itself on telling the stories of our favourite destinations a little differently and it is one of the few travel media companies that truly knows its place when it comes to showcasing these unique experiences,” he said.
“I’ve been fortunate to travel around the world, including to remote Papua New Guinean villages and banshee haunted lighthouses on the most northern tip of Ireland, writing and shooting for Get Lost.
“As the new editor, I want to continue helping our readers find inspiration through Get Lost but also start to discover new travel creators here in Australia and abroad to help get us all excited about getting lost again.”
Grin Creative will launch an new publication in Q1 of 2021, to be headed up by get lost deputy editor Leah Glynn, who’ll also continue in her current role.
