Online retailer The Iconic has named Joanna Robinson as its interim chief marketing officer, following the departure of Dean Chadwick to MYOB.

This is Robinson’s first role since departing beverage company Chatime in December.

A spokesperson from The Iconic confirmed the appointment to Mumbrella, providing the following statement:

“Jo will join The Iconic as interim chief marketing officer to lead our marketing team. Jo is an incredible brand and marketing leader, and brings over 25 years of valuable knowledge and experience to The Iconic.”

“We are still looking to appoint a chief customer officer, however, we are thrilled for Jo to be joining The Iconic in the interim.”

The brand confirmed that a permanent CMO will not be appointed, with the role in place until a full-time chief customer officer is in place.

The Iconic hired Dean Chadwick as its chief customer officer in February 2022, before departing for accounting software firm MYOB in March 2023 to become its CMO.

“I am happy to share the news that my next exciting career adventure is as interim CMO with an iconic ANZ brand and business, The Iconic,” Robinson wrote on LinkedIn.

“As a lover of all things fashion, and having been an obsessive, loyal customer of the platform over the last 11 years, I am excited to join this exceptional leadership team to help drive the business to the next level.

“Thank you to my new team and colleagues for making me feel so welcome.”

Robinson was most recently CMO at Chatime from 2020 to 2022, where she led the company’s marketing strategy across multiple brands across Australia. Prior to that, she was a lecturer at the University of New South Wales from 2018 to 2020, marketing director at cosmetics company L’Occitane en Provence from 2017 to 2018 and head of marketing at Tyrell’s Wines from 2015 to 2017.

She also worked at a number of senior marketing roles in the Dubai offices of Estee Lauder and Unilever, and in brand roles at Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble in Sydney.

Mumbrella has contacted Robinson for comment.
