Junkee Media appoints Rob Stott as managing editor

Junkee Media has appointed BuzzFeed news editor Rob Stott as managing editor of Junkee and Punkee.

Stott replaces Darren Levin, who departed Junkee Media last month after eight and a half years.

Stott is currently at BuzzFeed, where he has been news editor for the past two years.

Before BuzzFeed, he was the morning editor at news.com.au for almost two years.

Junkee Media’s publisher, Tim Duggan, said Stott would be a great asset to the team.

“Rob is an amazing editor with the rare combination of a great sense for news and how to get people to engage with content on the internet. He will bring lots of fresh energy to lead the editorial team as we head into another growth phase.”

Stott added: “After two wonderful years at BuzzFeed I’m really excited to move into my new role at Junkee.

“Junkee’s a great brand which already has a huge impact on young Australians’ lives. I can’t wait to get started and help the team expand its coverage across news, politics, music, culture and more.”

Simon Crerar, editor-in-chief at Buzzfeed Australia added: “We wish Rob – and his always thirsty approach to news – the very best of luck.”

Buzzfeed Australia is currently advertising for the role. Stott will depart on 7 July.
