Kate McClymont picks up five nominations at the Kennedy Awards
Sydney Morning Herald investigative journalist Kate McClymont ledadsthe Kennedy Awards nominations picking up five nominations last night.
Many of McClymont’s nominations related to her coverage of the recent NSW ICAC inquiry involving Ian MacDonald, Eddie Obeid and mining in Bylong Valley.
The nominations for the Kennedy Awards for Excellence in New South Wales Journalism were chosen by a panel of 35 judges, led by John Hartigan and Peter Meakin.
Now in its second year there were more than 450 entries for the awards, which recognise the legacy of crime reporter Les Kennedy.
Have to chuckle when I see that the TEN network and Sky News sponsor two of the awards, but neither gets a single nomination. And Sky News not even nominated for finance reporting – when it has a channel dedicated to business (or did when I last bothered to look).
If only we had politicians of the calibre that Kate represents we’d be much better off.
Well deserved, Kate. Kate’s twitter feed has been one of the best reads in Sydney for quite some time now. Clever, insightful and determined.
Forget the morning coffee, Kate’s tweets are top of the brew.
Talking of Journalistic awards can somebody please spell check or read their bloody articles beforehand
PS Congrats Kate good luck
