Kayo’s cautionary tale for fans in latest T20 Cricket World Cup work via Special

Kayo Sports has launched a brand campaign before this year’s ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup via Special, which debuted during the NRL Grand Final with the spot, ‘What Happens’.

The 30-second spot tells a cheeky, cautionary tale about missing your team’s match and being subjected to everyone’s ire. In a series of events, the life of one unsuspecting fan fell apart.

Kayo Sports is the streaming hub of the T20 Cricket World Cup. Speaking to Mumbrella last month, Kayo Sports CEO, Julian Ogrin said cricket is the biggest summer sport to watch with national appeal.

“There’s a strong cross-over between AFL, NRL, and Cricket. In fact, the crossover interest is at 70% and then you add into that the growth for cricket with fanatics that come in for the summer,” he said. “It’s all about retaining those people all year round. So it’s absolutely critical to our transition of the seasons.”

Kayo Sports marketing director, Kim McConnie, said: “With the footy season wrapping up and winter coming to an end, Aussies are more than ready for a summer of blockbuster cricket action.

“For cricket fans all over Australia, Kayo has you covered with five different touring nations, two World Cups and more than 1600 hours of live action, we haven’t seen a summer like this – all live, with our game-changing innovations and Fox Cricket’s expert commentary team.”
