Keno introduces a new brand face in Ken the Keno Kraken
Ken the Keno Kraken has been introduced as the face of betting game, Keno, in a new campaign from Clemenger Brisbane.
The campaign positions Keno as a quick and fun game to fill time during lunch. The three spots see Ken and a group of friends playing Keno, while waiting for food and watching the footy.
The animatronic puppet of Ken, used in the ads, was created by ODD Studio. The spots were produced by Two Little Indians and Cutting Edge.
Clemenger managing partner, Cristian Staal, said: “Keno is that game that makes a good time great, and Ken’s that fun friend with eight legs who brings everyone together for a social game.
“He’s less mythical monster, more social creature. He’s all about hanging out with his mates and prefers to devour a good schnitty over a sailor.”
Keno’s head of brand marketing, Scott Colvin, said the introduction of Ken the Kraken was to create brand salience.
“Ken’s a memorable and distinctive character. He allows us to disrupt and show Keno as a social game that’s all part of a fun night out,” Colvin said.
The campaign will appear in OOH, online, catch-up TV, and in Keno venues across the nation.

Wow! Creepiest marketing mascot I’ve seen in a while.

Maybe the mascot symbolises the sucking of money out of your pocket.

I confidently predict Ken will be confined to the depths after a few short months. Seriously, is this the best we can do ?
