Last chance to enter Product of the Year Awards

Entries will close at the end of the week for marketers to enter the Product of the Year awards 2011.

The announcement:

Marketers have just a week remaining to enter their best new products by Wednesday 4 August into Australia’s largest independent consumer awards, Product of the Year Awards for 2011.

Any marketer hoping their product will follow in the footsteps of previous winners such as Nurofen Zavance and SunRice Vintage Cheddar and Black Pepper rice cakes – both of which achieved significant sales boosts after their wins – needs to complete the online entry requirements at www.productoftheyear.com.au

All entries will be put before a panel of experts, this year led by Coles Supermarkets marketing director Simon McDowell, before a panel of 5,000 Australians will determine the winners.

Any new product or variant that was launched in Australia since 1 January 2009 is eligible to enter.

Globally, winners of Product of the Year report an average increase of sales between 10% and 15%, and much larger increases are not uncommon. Many companies use a Product of the Year win as the basis for print, television and in-store advertising campaigns; they also incorporate the Product of the Year logo into their packaging, as promotion of the award has been proven to significantly increase sales.
