Lifestyle Channel is ASTRA’s channel of the year

The Lifestyle Channel, owned by XYZ Networks, won the top honour at the ASTRA Awards in Thursday night, being named channel of the year.
The ASTRA Awards celebrate Australia’s subscription television industry.
In a big night for the network, Peter Maddison, the presenter of Grand Designs Australia was named best new talent, while his show won the most outstanding lifestyle program award. The original British version of Grand Designs won favourite international program.
Andrew Winter, presenter of Lifestyle’s Selling Homes Australia, was again named favourite male personality while his show was named favourite Australian program.
Sky News also had a good night, with Ashleigh Gillon winning most outstanding performance by a broadcast journalist while David Speers won outstanding performance by a presenter and the channel won outstanding news coverage for its handling of the 2010 election.
The infamous live final of Australia’s Next Top Model, during which Sarah Murdoch accidentally named the wrong winner, was forgotten – she was named favourite female personality, while the show was named most outstanding reality program.
