Lowe wins $15m Aussie account
Australia’s most famous nasal whine now has a new home – with home loans brand Aussie shifting its advertising account to Lowe.
The brand’s advertising made a household name of Aussie John Symond, whose trademark “We’ll save you” became a catchphrase. In 2007 Saatchi & Saatchi removed him from the ads, although they kept his voice at the end, with the new line “That’s confidence!”.
Saatchis declined to repitch for the business, which also saw Rapp, Euro RSCG and 303 on the shortlist.
The company -w hich took over Wizard Home Loans at the end of the year – plans a marketing spend of $15m in 2009.
Stuart Tucker, GM of marketing at Aussie, said Lowe had “demonstrated an ability to understand Aussie and its customers, as well as delivering insightful ideas across the business”.
And Lowe CEO Stephen Pearson said: Everyone’s thrilled with the result. We’re optimistic about doing great work and making a real difference to their business.”
Aussie’s digital agency Amnesia and media house Razor are unaffected by the process.
Coincidentally, Stephen ‘Fox’ Symond (Aussie John’s son) started working at Saatchi’s at the same time they picked up the account and left at the same time they declined to re-pitch…
