Lowy Institute to award international journalism
The Lowy Institute for International Policy has announced an annual media award for journalism that has deepened the knowledge or shaped the discussion of international policy issues in Australia over the last year. The award will be presented to an individual journalist or journalism team at a ceremony in September.

The Lowy Institute for International Policy today announced the establishment of an annual Lowy Institute Media Award. The Award will be presented to an Australian journalist (or journalistic team) in print, broadcast or on-line media, who through a single piece of reporting or commentary, or series of reports, has deepened the knowledge or shaped the discussion of international policy issues in Australia in the last year.
‘The rise of Asia means that Australia finds itself a lot closer to the centre of geopolitical and economic action than in the past. It is vital to the national interest, therefore, that Australians understand what is happening beyond our shores, and the media play a central role in this regard.
