Macquarie Bank CEO Nicholas Moore named new chair of Screen Australia board

screen australiaMacquarie Bank CEO Nicholas Moore has been named the new chair of the Screen Australia board, filling the void left by Glen Boreham who stepped down last June.

Nicholas MooreMoore has been the group managing director and CEO of Macquarie Group since 2008 and has been with the group since 1986.

The appointment was announced by Arts Minister George Brandis yesterday: “Mr Moore’s business success and standing in the global business community will strengthen confidence and investment in a competitive and rapidly changing screen sector. He will help Screen Australia ensure Australian production companies achieve commercial success while continuing to engage audiences both here and abroad.”

Moore holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws, is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and has also practiced as a chartered accountatin.

He has been appointed for three years.

Deputy chair Deanne Weir has been acting in the position since the departure of Boreham and was thanked for her work.

“I would like to thank Ms Deanne Weir for her service as acting chair. Her willingness to assume the role and her proven capability ensured the continued smooth operation of the board,” Brandis said.

Other Screen Australia board members include Rosemary Blight, Al Clark, Ross Entwistle, Claudia Karvan, Richard Keddie, Matthew Liebmann and Joan Peters.
