MADC Awards to encourage young creatives with new category
The MADC Awards, which celebrates the best in Melbourne’s advertising and design industry, has added new categories to the event including a Junior of the Year Award.
Richard Ralphsmith, MADC president, said the new category was part of its strategy to help foster young talent in advertising, design and photography.
“People with less than three years’ experience in the business get the crappiest briefs. But the best juniors make something out of everything they’re given. It’s about time they were recognised,” he said.
“And in recognition of junior level salaries, the MADC junior category entry fees are half the price of general entries.”
The other additions to this year’s awards include a new MADC Award for Craft in Retouching and changes to the Sound Design category which will now be split into Craft in Sound Design for TVC/Cinema and Craft in Sound Design in a Radio Commercial.
In the junior category, anyone with less than three years experience in their particular field will be able to enter. That includes junior copywriters, art directors, designers, photographers, illustrators, directors and audio engineers.
