MAFS vs Australian Idol vs Survivor: Who won the ratings?
Married At First Sight has launched to a national TV audience of 1.25 million viewers, trumping impressive debuts from both Australian Idol and Survivor in a hot 7:30pm timeslot.
The return of MAFS on Nine reached 2.46 million viewers overall, ahead of any of the news broadcasts, with a Total TV national audience of 1.25 million, and a broadcast video-on-demand audience of 189,000.
Australian Idol launched to a national audience of 787,000 on Seven – with 1.78 million tuning in at some point through the broadcast, while the latest Survivor season launched to 572,000 viewers on Ten, with 1.13 million tuning in during its two-hour debut.
Tipping Point Australia also launched at 5pm yesterday on Nine, with Todd Woodbridge pulling hosting duties the day after wrapping at the Australian Open (unless, of course, they have a way of pre-recording these things). It did well, with an audience of 663,000 nationally, and close to 1.4 million checking it out at some point during the half-hour.
Finally, Deal Or No Deal debuted on Ten with new host Grant Denyer, drawing 371,000 viewers nationally, with a national reach of 656,000.
Prefer UK version of Tipping Point. Don’t like audience participation and different changes to whole show on Aussie version. Won’t be watching.

I would rather watch repeats of Millionaire Hot Seat again.

The majority of viewers are fans of the UK version and ch9 will lose them very quickly because they have ripped off the contestants opportunity to win counters and money in so many ways (five in fact!)…. F#(ing cheapskates!!.. I feel ripped off TOO!… Oz viewers new to the show won’t feel that but, after the ridiculous hype and hundreds of ads during the tennis, this watered down version will fall short for them also.
1)First round wrong answers don’t go into a “penalty pot” to be won at the end of the round .. they just disappear. .. 2)At the start all the counters are half a counter’s width away from the back wall/dropzone… in UK they are flush against the back wall when the top shelf retracts.
3)in round 2 they are each given 30 seconds to answer questions, in the UK version it’s 45 seconds. … 4)in round 3 the two remaining players get TWO questions each , in UK they get THREE . .. 5) in final round the winning contestant gets FIVE categories/questions, but in the much better version they get SIX !
The end result is that not only is the winner much less likely to have the Jackpot anywhere near the “tipping point” , but they have only amassed around $2200-$2600to take home. .. In the UK version they average between 3000 and 3500 pounds.. that’s $6000-$7000.
Channel 9 have set themselves up to fail with this diluted and stingy version of a half decent show from the UK and that’s before you factor in the penny pinching choice of not recruiting an experienced/popular game show host.

So… it looks like MAFS won by a long shot although I watched Idol.

Based on night 1 of Deal on 10 against 2 news services best of luck with those numbers. Give it Til Easter when out of ratings come around and it will vanish into summer fill in.

Why don’t you like the audience or the other changes? I think they make the show better.

I won’t repeat what MGM said, they covered everything. Channel 9 bean counters completely ruined a decent show.
