Marketing agencies launch industry ping pong competition Rally Together to raise money for the Wires Emergency Fund
A group of marketing agencies have come together to organise an industry-only ping pong tournament to raise money for the Wires Emergency Fund.
Rally Together will take place on the 19th of February at The East Village Rooftop in Sydney’s Darlinghurst.
Matt Barbelli, managing director of Frank Digital and one of the organisers of the event, said they wanted to plan something that the whole industry could get behind.
“We wanted to do something that would get the entire industry involved. We all solve problems creatively everyday, but given the scale and ferocity of these fires it can be difficult to see how we can make a difference,” Barbelli said.
“These devastating fires have made us all realise that sometimes there are more important things in life to worry about. Anything we can do as an industry is important and it’s important we rally together in times of need. We hope we can get as many agencies involved as possible and raise lots of money for Wires.”
Music and food will be provided, and prizes will be given out for best named and best dressed teams.
Agencies can register for the event by emailing charlotte@jaywing.com.au.
Rally Together is the latest in a line of industry initiatives set up to assist in bushfire relief.
Industry body UnLtd has launched a series of auctions to raise money for children impacted by the bushfires. Jane Metlikovec from creative agency Upstride started a Facebook page and website, ‘Creatives for Bushfires’, to enable agencies to offer their services to bushfire-affected businesses and communities.
Meanwhile, a group of agency leaders and marketers have come together for the Wage for a Wage campaign, which sees them donate one day’s wage to volunteer firefighters. And, 21 leading PR agencies have formed the Bushfire PR Alliance, providing communications support to affected towns and regional areas.
