Mars Food Australia appoints Bronwyn Powell as marketing director
Ex-McDonald’s marketer Bronwyn Powell has joined Mars Food Australia as its marketing director.
Powell has a background in fast food and FMCG brands, and was most recently head of marketing at Oporto, a role which she held for ten months. Prior to a year-long gap during which she ran her own consultancy, Powell was senior director of marketing and menu at McDonald’s.
She has previously worked at Coca-Cola, KFC and Kellogg’s.
Hamish Thomson, Mars Food Australia’s general manager, hinted at the importance of moving the company away from the food of “the past” when congratulating Powell.
“We are thrilled to have Bronwyn joining our leadership team,” he said. “She is a commercially astute marketer who thinks digital first and is passionate about innovation and transformational change – attributes we need to create food for the future and not for the past.
“A key focus for Bronwyn will be to help shape Mars Food Australia’s future growth strategy, which will be driven by innovation into new flavours and formats and the sharing of healthier, easier, affordable, tasty meals.”
Powell’s achievements include an Australian Promotional Marketing Association Award for the social media campaign #SPCSunday, and a Bronze Lion at Cannes for #Macitbetter.
“It’s an honour and pleasure to join the highly esteemed Mars Food team who are working to make dinner time matter,” said Powell.
“The Mars Food business is on the cusp of exciting change and I can’t wait to bring my experience and a digital lens to help drive that change, and to continue to delight consumers and customers.”
Great hire for Mars, Bronwyn is great. Smart & courageous which is a terrific combo.
Great hire, well done Bronwyn!
