Masterchef helps boost Ten’s share but Nine wins in total people and grocery buyers

The return of Masterchef last Monday evening has helped Ten claw back some audience share with the channel claiming an audience share of 27.8% across total people for week 18 of the year.

Ten’s share for the week was up on week 17’s share of 21.1% but while it was growth for the channel it still remained in third place with Nine taking out the win with a share of 36.3% ahead of Seven’s share of 35.8%.

In terms of the other key advertising demographics, Nine won both 25-54s and grocery buyers with child while Seven won 16-39s.

Seven’s winner announcement for My Kitchen Rules was the top show for the week while the launch of Ten’s Masterchef was the seventh most popular show for the week.

Meanwhile, for Saturday evening news was the popular choice with Nine News Saturday was the most-watched show of the evening, pulling in 880,000 metro viewers.

Seven News grabbed 838,000 metro viewers and ABC News had a metro audience of 755,000.

Seven’s Saturday night AFL match was watched by 307,000 viewers in Melbourne.

Seven won the night with an audience share of 20.9% while Nine had a share of 15.0%. Ten claimed fourth place with a share of 7.1% while the ABC reported a share of 14.8%.
