Matt Granfield joins Heritage Bank as marketing manager

Matt Granfield, the former head of digital strategy at Queensland agency Memery and author of HipsterMattic, has been appointed marketing manager of Heritage Bank.

Granfield’s brief is to bring the customer-owned bank’s People First proposition to life across all media.

The bank’s GM of marketing Jane Calder said: “In 2012, digital is obviously a hugely important part of any bank’s marketing strategy, but Matt has a really broad perspective on the whole marketing mix from his work as a marketing journalist and running agencies at various points on the spectrum, so he’ll be a real asset to the marketing team.”

Heritage Bank works with Brisbane ad agency BCM and Sydney-based digital and search agency DGM.

Granfield said: “I think financial institutions have such an important role in society, and managing the marketing and promotions team in a bank that is run with the sole purpose of benefiting its customers, as opposed to shareholders, is an enviable position – it’s a perfect marketing storm.”

He added: “The fact that Heritage has a customer satisfaction rating of 96.5%, which is higher than any other bank in Australia, makes the marketing job even more rewarding – you’re talking to people who think you’re brilliant and reaching out to others knowing they’ll end up joining some of the happiest customers in Australia. As a marketer you can’t ask for more.”

Granfield featured in a video interview with Mumbrella in December last year to talk about Hipsters in ad agencies. His career to date include a stint as a marketing strategist at boutique marketing agency e-CBD and as editor of Marketing Magazine.
