Melbourne radio ratings: Triple M takes hit
Triple M took a hit in the Melbourne radio ratings, falling further than any other station.
The Southern Cross Austereo station’s share fell from 7.5% to 6.2%, and was overtaken by ARN’s Mix101.1, which continued the momentum in the last survey to increase its share from 7.4% to 7.6%, Gold and Nova100.
Worryingly, Triple M fell furthest in the key advertising time slots of breakfast and drive and in age demographics 18-24 and 40-54. Triple M’s Hot Breakfast is hosted by Eddie McGuire.
Craig Bruce, SCA head of content commented: “We saw some of that coming from the previous results. I think the Olympics haven’t helped in terms of consistency. But we’re pretty confident we can turn that around in survey 6 with the AFL finals.”
However, the ratings period ended before the Olympics began, running from Sunday 6 May to Saturday 9 June, and Sunday 24 June to Saturday 28 July.
Today Network’s Fox FM, which ranks third in the market behind ABC774, fell back fractionally to 10.4% share, falling furthest in the morning slot from 9am to noon. But its audience rose well in the evening, up by 1.8 percentage points to 12% share.
Market leader 3AW pushed ahead, up from 14.8% to 15.4% share, according to the Nielsen survey.
ARN’s Mix101.1 recorded its biggest audience share in over a decade, up to 7.6% share.

Is it SCA’s station’s share or Triple M’s share that has fallen from 7.5 to 6.2? SCA has Fox in Melbourne too right?
