Melbourne radio ratings: Will & Woody storm home in drive time; 3AW takes the year

KIIS national drive pairing Will and Woody were the stars of the final radio ratings survey for the year in Melbourne, taking a 10.4% share, up 2.8 points overall.

GfK radio ratings survey 8 for the year ran between 25 September and 3 December.

It was a similar story for 3AW, ending the year where it started as the number one network with a 15.1% share, after a tricky few books.

The network was up 1.4 percentage points, while star breakfast duo Russel and Ross also finished on a high of 22.8%, a major lift of 2.3%, while Tom Elliot also saw a welcome boost in drive, up 1.5%.

Overall, it was a solid result for GoldFM, finishing a clear second with an 11.9% share, up 0.4%, while Christian O’Connell saw a slight dip at breakfast, however emerging drive star Dave ‘Higgo’ Higgins finished the year strongly with a 12% share, up 0.8 points and finishing first in the slot.

A hotly contested race for second in drive saw 3AW’s Elliot (10.7%) beat out Carrie and Tommy (10.5%) and the surging Will and Woody.

ABC Melbourne was down 1.3 percentage points on the last survey, with a 6.2% share, but perhaps Charlie Pickering coming on board can help lift its breakfast numbers next year.

And it was a disappointing showing for Triple M – down 1.4 percentage points overall, with a 5.7% share, 5.1% share for Breakfast (down 1 point), and 7.1% for Drive (down 1.8) – a poor result for Marty Sheargold’s breakfast show, and even worse for drive time’s The Rush Hour with JB & Billy.
