MFA trumpets 40% female executive committee
The Media Federation of Australia is trumpeting a new executive committee line up for having a high proportion of women on the board.
The executive committee is 40% represented by female executives. It is to be chaired by Annick Perrin, the joint MD of Ikon Sydney.
MFA president Henry Tajer, who is executive chairman of Media Brands, said in a statement: “The issue of gender imbalance in our industry is ongoing and something the MFA is determined to address. With more that 60% of media agency employees being women, we think it’s important for women to be represented in management roles and industry groups such as the MFA Executive Committee. Gender diversity encourages a greater range of perspectives and ideas, and is an essential ingredient for commercial success in business.”
Perrin added: “It’s going to be a pleasure working with the MFA Exec as Chair with a fresh team brimming with new ideas and dreams to better our industry, and to develop and retain the best people for our clients and the future. I’m also proud to chair the Committee at a time when we have reached a 40% female contingency and full support from the MFA Board.”
The MFA executive committee, which is officially formed on 26 July, consists of:
Annick Perrin, Ikon
Sue Kallas, Starcom MediaVest
Andrew Livingston, Initiative

congratulations to Annick and she may well be fabulous but I still feel like i’m reading something from the 1970s
wasn’t affirmative action/positive discrimination discredited decades ago in mainstream corporate Australia as a crude and hypocritical response to perceived gender discrimination?
also, citing employment numbers by gender as justification for gender quotas in management is fallacious reasoning ie the fact that 60% of women working in an industry has no bearing on what % of women should be in management if gender isn’t an issue in selection. That there is a difference warrants investigation to discover if this has occurred but the difference alone is proof of nothing.
