Michael Bass promoted to national trading & negotiation director at Magna Global

Michael Bass has been promoted to national trading & negotiation director at IPG Mediabrand’s Magna Global.

The announcement:

IPG Mediabrands Australia has announced the appointment of Michael Bass as national trading and negotiation director at Magna Global, the group’s intelligence and investment division.

Bass will report to IPG Mediabrands Australia chief investment officer Victor Corones and be responsible for overseeing IPG Mediabrands negotiation and trading practices across existing client and business development teams. He will also help drive the group’s skills in negotiation and trading, evolve trading practices and develop new trading intelligence.

“One of the most consistent areas of our major people investments has always been in the capabilities of our negotiation and trading practices,” said IPG Mediabrands Australia executive chairman, Henry Tajer. “These skills fundamentally determine the quality of our organisation in our clients’ eyes and we will continue a relentless focus in this area into the future. This appointment taps Michael’s long-term, impressive skills that are very well-known internally and also among media owners at local and national levels.”

Prior to his new appointment, Bass was investment director for Initiative Sydney. That role will now be covered by Marcelle Gomez, who was recently appointed as Initiative’s national investment director and will be based in Sydney. Bass has a long history with IPG Mediabrands. He first worked for Initiative’s sister agency UM as a media trader in 2001.
