Pay TV industry celebrates marketing efforts to promote its platform

Marketing efforts to promote subscription television have been recognised at the eighth annual ASTRA Industry Excellence Awards with promotions for Wentworth taking two accolades and Foxtel Play winning the prize for technology.

The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) presented ten awards to recognise the best promotions, use of technology, marketing and advertising campaigns for subscription TV.

A total of 37 entries had been submitted by pay TV channels, operators, production houses, media, advertising and creative agencies. And a panel of 52 judges in Foxtel’s senior ranks selected the winners based on the strength of the campaign strategy, implementation, results and creativity.

Sky News sports reporter James Bracey hosted the event, fresh off the plane from the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. And pay TV presenters including Kerrie-Anne Kennerley, host of Behind Mansion Walls, and Nickelodeon presenters Luke and Wyatt, presented the prizes.

Andrew Maiden, CEO of ASTRA, said: “The innovative and dynamic campaigns of this year’s winners showcase some of the very best the subscription television industry can offer.”

Ad sales house MCN and the Lifestyle Food channel were partners for the event held at Simmer on the Bay in Walsh Bay, Sydney, two weeks ahead of the ASTRA Awards at Carriageworks in Eveleigh on March 20.
