Michael ‘Dooglas’ encourages Publicis family to protect themselves from HPV-related cancer
Publicis Groupe has launched its annual ‘Wishes’ film, leveraging the platform to drive awareness of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
While the annual festive film is usually a celebration of the year that has been, titled ‘Useful Wishes’, the 2023 films follows a conversation between Publicis Groupe’s chairman of the supervisory board, Maurice Lévy, and CEO, Arthur Sadoun.
Sadoun informs Lévy that while 80% of all adults will contract HPV at some point in their lives, cancers related to the virus have been kept quiet and stigmatized, thus becoming a silent killer.
The theme is particularly personal to Sadoun, who was diagnosed a treated for HPV-related cancer earlier this year.
The pair’s somewhat disjointed conversation is interrupted by the entrance of Michael Douglas, who himself went through HPV-related cancer and is an advocate for the HPV vaccine.
The off-kilter spot sees Lévy transfixed by the entrance of the star, repeating “Michael Dooglas” with wide eyes, unresponsive Douglas’ polite corrections of his pronunciation.
The resounding message of the film. which already has more than 2.5 million views of YouTube, is to “help protect as many people as possible by encouraging them to get vaccinated”.
