Mike Byrne joins ARN as content director for WS FM

Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) WS FM has a new content director, with Mike Byrne joining the team.

In December, ARN didn’t renew WS FM’s content director Scott Muller’s contract, leaving the position open at the end of 2019.

Byrne started today

Byrne has worked for ARN previously as both an executive producer and program director for Sydney’s Mix 106.5 (now Kiis), but was most recently group content director at Newcastle’s KO FM and NX FM.

ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said: “Mike brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, and I’m pleased to be welcoming him back to ARN. I look forward to working with him as we continue to build on the success of WS FM.”

The end of 2019 was host to multiple changes across the radio landscape at management, programming, staffing and talent levels.

For ARN, this included the departure of Muller, as well as a handful of redundancies across the network.

In addition, 97.3 FM’s breakfast show in Brisbane faced a shake-up, with only Bob Gallagher due to return to the program next year. Fellow co-hosts Mike Van Acker and Bianca Dye won’t feature on Brisbane’s breakfast program this year, however Dye will reportedly remain with the network in a yet-to-be-announced capacity.
