Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix94.5 FM has lost its lead as Perth’s number one station and 96FM has taken the top spot in the latest Nielsen survey.

As Mix94.5’s share of the audience dropped from 13.3 to 12.3 per cent Monday to Sunday, 96FM’s audience grew from 12.7 to 13.5 per cent. And 96FM also nabbed the top spot from Monday to Friday as Mix 94.5’s audience share fell from 13.3 per cent to 12.5 per cent and 96FM’s grew from 13 to 14 per cent.

DMG’s Nova 93.7 holds its close third place in the race with just a slight drop in its audience share from 12.3 to 12.2 per cent Monday to Sunday, and from 12.5 to 12.2 per cent Monday to Friday.

In the breakfast battle Nova 93.7 is closing the gap on the ABC as Nathan, Nat and Shaun’s show has had a 0.4 per cent gain to 12.3 per cent behind ABC720’s Breakfast with Eoin Cameron’s 12.9 per cent.

Nova’s nationally broadcast drivetime show with Meshel, Tim and Marty is still the most popular in its timeslot in Perth despite a two per cent drop since the last survey on May 21 as it holds onto 13.2 per cent of the audience ahead of 96FM.

96FM’s ‘Just Drive’ with Darren de Mello has had a 1.3 per cent rise in its audience share to secure second place with 12.6 per cent, while 92.9 is close behind with a 12.4 per cent share of the audience listening to Hamish and Andy from 4pm to 6pm.

Mix’s drive show ‘The Couch’ has seen a fall in listeners from 13.2 per cent to 11.5 per cent in today’s Nielsen survey.

And the 6PR Drive show hosted by Howard Sattler until he was sacked on June 14 has maintained is 8.4 per cent share of the drive time audience. His exit followed a bizarre interview with then Prime Minister Julia Gillard in which he asked her live on air if her partner Tim Mathieson was gay.

Meanwhile, Southern Cross Austereo’s chief content officer Guy Dobson conceded that 92.9, part of the Today Network, had seen a disappointing number. He said: “It will be up in the next survey. I’m certain of that.”
