Mothers Who Murder outrates What Really Happens in Bali on quiet TV night

Mothers who murderNine’s The Block: Glasshouse was the only non-news show to break the million viewer barrier last night comfortably winning the 7.30pm timeslot as The Bachelor fell back from its season high on Wednesday to a low of 579,000 viewers, fourth in the timeslot.

Ten’s special Mothers Who Murder, looking at women who have killed their own children, at 8.45pm dropped further back with 459,000, but did beat Seven’s What really Happens in Bali, which has dropped back to 453,000 at the same time, after debuting to more than a million viewers in May. They were beaten by ABC’s The Time of Our Lives (620,000) and Nine’s The Footy Show which got 806,000.

The strength of The Block and The Footy Show helped Nine to win the night with a commanding 23.7 per cent, with Seven second on 16.9 per cent, and Ten fourth on 12.8 per cent.

In the news battle Nine News at 6pm topped the night with 1.109m, with Seven’s bulletin at that time on 1.052m, with Nine taking 1.008m for its 6.30pm bulletin and Seven News/Today Tonight on 967,000. Ten’s Family Feud, still being simulcast on the main channel with One and Eleven, had 665,000 viewers at 6pm.

Home & Away was the second biggest entertainment show of the evening with 842,000 viewers for the hour-long episode, with Nine’s Hot Seat winning the gameshow battle at 5.30pm with 598,000 ahead of Seven’s Million Dollar Minute on 549,000.
