9:20am – It seems Fairfax execs were busy penning emails yesterday, with Domain CEO Anthony Catalano sending an email to real estate agents telling them to shun rivals REA Group (majority owned by News Corp) over new pricing structures for ads which will see ads for homes in more affluent areas charged more, and those in cheaper areas drop in price. See the email on the Australian Financial Review.

8:31am – Around the traps over the weekend, and there’s a tasty row brewing in another section of the media, with News Corp sending legal letters to the Daily Mail Australia telling it to stop lifting large “reams of copy” from its “exclusive” stories, including one about a dress which took six staff to produce.

There’s an interesting analysis of the row from Amanda Meade in The Guardian Australia, which points out the fact News Corp sites rarely attribute stories with links, unlike the Mail which always links to the original.

8:17am – Easily the most sensational story breaking over the long weekend (except for readers in WA) was Fairfax CEO Greg Hywood’s explosive email to staff accusing rivals News Corp of a litany of sins, including spreading lies about them and being at war with itself. See the full email and background here.

8:07am – And we’re back, after something of a restorative hiatus over the long weekend, and with a lot having happened. We’ll be giving you a wrap of all you need to know that’s happened right here, so stay tuned.
