Mumbrella360: Reimagined cancelled

Mumbrella and its parent company Diversified Communications has made the difficult decision to cancel Mumbrella360: Reimagined, which was set to take place on 28-29 September at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney.

The event is Australia’s largest media and marketing conference, attracting an audited attendance of 2,100 delegates when it last ran as a physical event in 2019. The current extended COVID lockdowns in Sydney have made an event of this size in September an impossibility to hold.

Mumbrella will now turn its focus to Mumbrella360 2022 which the business intends to bring back in its full form on 19-21 July at the Hilton Hotel. It will also continue to work on plans for events towards the end of the year.

“It’s hard to accept but the decision was essentially made for us,” Mumbrella’s commercial director and publisher Chris Greenwood said. “We have always said we would keep the safety of our speakers, delegates, sponsors, suppliers and staff at the front of our decision making and we have done that here. An event of this scale simply cannot run safely at this time, and with the uncertainty around future regulations, we wanted to continue the trend of making quick calls to give everyone as much certainty as possible.”

“A lot of people have put in a significant amount of work into Mumbrella360: Reimagined, under challenging and changing circumstances,” Mumbrella’s head of content Damian Francis added. “Not just our staff, but our speakers, sponsors and our suppliers as well. We had a record number of session submissions for the event this year, which truly shows how invested the industry is in making this event bigger and better.

“I’d like to personally thank everyone involved who got the event to where it was before we had to make this decision. We’ll be refocusing on Mumbrella360 2022 now and you can be assured that, after two years of not running the event in-person, it will be an industry conference that is not to be missed.”

Ticket holders to Mumbrella360:Reimagined will be contacted via email by the Mumbrella events team today.
