Myer takes creative account to pitch after decade with Clemenger BBDO

Department store Myer is pitching its creative account to potential new clients, after a decade-long relationship with Clemenger BBDO, with the agency understood to be moving on.

This comes in the same week that Myer merged with Premier Apparel Brands — comprising of Just Jeans, Dotti, Jays Jay, Portman’s, and Jacqui E — in a deal worth $864 million.

Clemenger BBDO said it was “declining to take part in the pitch”.

Clarabella Burley, chief marketing officer at Myer, said: “We value the partnership we have had with Clemenger BBDO for the past ten years.

“As we enter a new phase of growth, we are assessing all parts of our business and exploring new creative directions that will continue to engage our customers into the future.

“The tender process is underway and we have no updates at this time. We look forward to saying more on this at the appropriate time.”

Dani Bassil, CEO Clemenger BBDO added: “We have enjoyed every minute of our incredible partnership with MYER over the years.

“While we are declining to take part in the pitch, we are exceptionally proud of the impact we have had on the brand and wish the team every success in the future.”

The pitch process that saw Clemenger win the account in 2014 stretched over a year-long period.
