National Box Office: Mad Max dominates opening weekend

Chris Hemsworth and Mad Max took the National Box Office this weekend, with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga taking a huge $3.32 million in its debut weekend.

Last week’s top film, IF, took another $1.73 million in its second week of release, brining it to over $5.1 million in box office, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes brought in $1.18 million, taking its cumulative box office to $9.15 million in its third week of release.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are hanging in there with The Fall Guy racking up decent numbers in its fifth week of release, bringing in $659,000 and bringing its cumulative takings to $12.45 million.

In fifth spot, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In took $229,000 in its opening weekend.

The National Australian Box Office was $8.98 million for the weekend – with Mad Max being the only major new release, accounting for a huge portion of those takings.
